About

Here at seedstar co we want to inspire your senses and evoke the body’s wisdom.  Our offerings hold the wildness that remind you that you are nature.

Hey there, welcome.

My name is Ky Alecto-Mukari, and I am the founder of seedstar co. The plants called me to work more directly with them a few years ago. There is a saying - sometimes a plant stands up in the forest and calls your name - and for me they came to my back door at a time in my life when I really needed that. The plants reminded me of the care of the natural world, that they know us more than we human’s know them. I knew these plants had shown up for me in a time of need, they answered my call, they arrived and I didn’t know how to listen to them or how to reciprocate - I needed to learn how, and I set about doing just that.

As a grateful person of Yaralde Ancestory (First Nations of the Coorong, South Australia), I was fortunate to have an Aunty and Elder who shares some Original Bush Medicine with me, opening a gateway to awareness of plants growing around me, indigenous to the land. I do seek to learn from Original Plants and those known as Weeds, for me these particular plants know this land, know how to care for place, and have so much to teach in relationship and adaption.

Medicine making at seedstar co, is deeply inspired by an intimate connection that involves an embodied sensory conversation with the elements, the plants, the place and the eco system.

All our creations are inspired by the care, wisdom and great generosity of the Plants. Everything we make is based in relationship – in listening, care and tending to the earth, with a focus on the connection between people and the earth. Our offerings carry the teachings of the plants embedded in every step.

Seedstar co is an artisan micro business – all our soul medicine is handmade.  We blend wild harvested, organically homegrown, organically sourced and ethically sourced materials.  Our offerings are limited edition, seasonal and always harvested with respect and permission from the plants. Right relationship is a core value. We like to be intimately connected and inspired by our medicine making – it is an embodied sensory conversation with the elements, with place and with the individual eco systems we call ourselves.  Our approach to healing is relational, inclusive and expansive.

Everything we make is created and inspired by this place - Kangaroo Island, Ramindjeri country, its old name is Karta, a Ramindjeri word meaning stairway to star heaven. It has another name - Karta Kau Kau Kungarr - which means blessed are those who listen.  It is a powerful country with much to teach in its diverse conditions and pristine natural environment.

Listening is a life long practice that can bring us more into right relationship. This is key in a question that has intrigued me all my life - how does healing happen? This fascination has led me to study and practice meditation, kinesiology, permaculture, art therapy, eco-art therapy, alchemical herbalism, plant spirit medicine and various other modalities that each bring their own view and insights to this question. I am a life-long learner, passionate about working with our innate healing capacities, the wisdom of the body and with the plants and the earth.  I love backyard medicine, the plants and earth know us and are communicating with us all the time but we have forgotten how to listen.

I have lived a nomadic life and have been based on Karta for the last 7 years with my son, partner, dog and the eco system that has adopted us.
